The Awakening

As we begin to waken from our deep, collective slumber

To discover a new world awash with love, delight and wonder

And realize we dreamed of wars and hatred in the night

Yet clarity and truth now shine in dawn's bright morning light

What wonderful discovery that it was just a dream

That dreadful place in which all of humanity has been

Where each race feared the other for the color of their skin

But now the light of truth returns to show us we are kin

It seems like eons that we have endured that hateful place

Reality now reappears as we bask in God's sweet grace

For it was but a moment in the realm of time and space

That sickness, fear and lack ruled over all the human race

Creating mindless drama just because the gods were bored

Yet upon awakening we find, that joy has been restored

It was a long, deep sleep that we were in--but now has passed

And love, joy, truth and harmony resurface at long last

The gods wake up and stretch their limbsand laugh at their confusion

For believing... even briefly, in what proved to be illusion
